About me

Harvada Advisors
I am the founder of Harvada Advisors, a sole proprietorship consulting firm focused on assisting senior managers and start-up founders with product visioning and strategy, business case development and investor pitch books. Clients have included companies in social gaming, education media, enterprise gamification, and content publishing.  In between consulting engagements, I have also held a number of executive positions at social gaming and web/mobile app start-ups.

Most recently, I was the Head of Product at Thuuz, Inc.  Called "one of the more ingenious web startups we've seen lately" by Fast Company Magazine, Thuuz provides real-time game excitement ratings and previews and alerts for sports enthusiasts.  I worked closely with the founding executive team to develop company strategy, manage the product road map, and roll out new features on the web, IPTV and mobile devices.  I led the effort to expand Thuuz's product offerings from a web-based email and text alert service to providing a true multi-screen experience with dedicated apps for GoogleTV, Android phones, and Apple's iOs.

Prior to that I was the Executive VP of Strategy for Fastpoint Games. Fastpoint Games powers games with a highly configurable and scalable social gaming platform that allows major media entities and brands to engage and monetize their user base.  The company deliver compelling games via a B2B Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) model on partner web sites, social media sites and mobile devices in any language.  Initially focused on the sports sector, our clients have included NBA, Turner Digital, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, Military.com, AVP, NASCAR, and Sporting News.  Fastpoint Games has also branched out to the entertainment space with games for the likes of USWeekly and “The Bachelor” (ABC), and into the massively multiplayer online gaming with Facebook games based on Sony's Everquest II.

I led Fastpoint's strategy for new market entry, complementary technologies, and mergers and acquisitions. I also focus on business analytics for user acquisition, retention, and monetization. Fastpoint received funding from Mission Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson and was acquired in 2012.

Before to joining Fastpoint Games, I held senior management positions in business consulting services, sales, and operations at IBM and Oracle.  I spent five years working in China where I started IBM's CRM consulting practice.  I have worked with major companies and government agencies in the United States, China, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

I hold an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. in Sociology and B.A. in Anthropology from Stanford University.

Above all I am a husband to a wonderfully talented wife and father to three growing boys. I swim or play water polo as often as I can, which isn't often enough these days. An avid traveler and photographer, I created a photo series during a three week trip to Italy called "Gelato of the Day". I've also been privileged to hike the Inca Trail in Peru, dive the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and trek the Silk Road in China.
